My name is Elena and I live in a small apartment on the second floor. Every morning, when I open the kitchen window, a gray cat is waiting for me on the balcony.
The cat doesn't have a name. Well, I call him Cloud, because he's soft and gray like a small cloud. Cloud lives with my neighbor, Mrs. Ana, but he really likes visiting my balcony.
Every day, Cloud arrives at eight in the morning. He sits near the door and looks at me with his big eyes. I give him a little milk in a small dish. Afterward, Cloud stays with me while I drink my coffee.
I like talking to Cloud, even though he doesn't understand Spanish. I tell him about my work, about my plans for the day, about everything. He just listens to me and purrs.
At nine o'clock, Cloud says goodbye and walks toward Mrs. Ana's house. I close the window and start my day. But I always think about Cloud and hope to see him again tomorrow.
Now my friends say Cloud is "my cat," even though technically he isn't mine. To me, it doesn't matter. Cloud is my morning friend, and that's enough.
