This policy explains what information Spanish Stories collects, how it's used, and which third-party services are involved. It's written to reflect what this website actually does : it does not use accounts, advertising, or analytics tracking.
1. Who we are
Spanish Stories is an independently operated website. You can reach us through the contact page.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide voluntarily
If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, and message. This information is used only to respond to your message. See Third-party services for how the contact form is processed.
You don't need to provide any information to read stories, use the vocabulary meanings, translations, audio, comprehension questions, placement quiz, or search: none of that requires an account or any personal information.
Information processed automatically
Like any website, ordinary technical information (such as your IP address and request details) passes through our hosting and content-delivery provider, Cloudflare, as part of delivering pages to your browser and protecting the site from abuse. We don't separately collect, store, or analyze this information ourselves: it's processed by Cloudflare as part of running the infrastructure. See Third-party services below.
Third-party processing
The contact form and hosting infrastructure are handled by Web3Forms and Cloudflare respectively, each under their own privacy policies. We don't control how these providers process data at the infrastructure level.
4. Analytics and tracking
This website does not currently use any analytics, tracking, or advertising services. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, and no behavioral tracking of any kind. On-site search is powered by a static, self-hosted search index that runs entirely in your browser and does not send your search terms anywhere.
5. Third-party services
We rely on the following third-party services, and only these:
- Web3Forms: receives and forwards submissions from the contact form (name, email, message) so we can reply to you. See Web3Forms' privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and provides content delivery and security infrastructure (Cloudflare Pages). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We don't use any payment processors, donation platforms, or advertising networks at this time.
6. Children's privacy
Spanish Stories is a Spanish-learning resource for readers of all ages (adults, teenagers, and children alike) and includes a dedicated Spanish Stories for Kids collection of family-friendly stories aimed primarily at A1–A2 learners.
Reading any story on the site, including the Kids collection, does not require an account, a name, an email address, or any other personal information. Simply reading a story does not cause us to collect personal information about a child.
The contact form does ask for a name and email address. It's built for visitors who choose to reach out to us, and we don't encourage children to submit personal information through it unnecessarily: if a child wants to contact us, we'd rather a parent or guardian send the message or supervise it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what's voluntarily submitted through that form.
We have not made a determination of compliance with any specific children's privacy law (such as COPPA in the United States or similar rules elsewhere), and this policy should not be read as a claim of such compliance. This is flagged as an item for legal review: see [JURISDICTION TO BE CONFIRMED].
7. Data retention
We don't operate our own database of contact form submissions: messages are delivered to us by email through Web3Forms. Retention of the underlying submission on Web3Forms' systems is governed by their own privacy policy, not by us. Technical data processed by Cloudflare is likewise retained according to Cloudflare's own policies, which we don't control and can't specify here.
8. Data security
We rely on reputable third-party providers (Web3Forms and Cloudflare) and standard web practices like HTTPS to help protect information in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information you've submitted to us: for example, to ask what we hold about you or to request it be deleted. Because we don't maintain our own database of submissions (see Data retention), the practical way to exercise this is to contact us directly and we'll do what we reasonably can. Which specific legal rights apply depends on the operator's jurisdiction, which is marked [JURISDICTION TO BE CONFIRMED] and should be finalized before relying on this section.
10. International users
Spanish Stories is intended for Spanish learners anywhere in the world, and visitors access the website from many different countries. We don't currently make a specific claim of compliance with any particular regional privacy framework (such as the EU's GDPR or California's CCPA); if a specific compliance claim is needed for your jurisdiction, that should be confirmed with appropriate legal guidance before launch.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website changes: for example, if we add new features or third-party services. When we do, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page.
